Austin, Texas – May 7, 2007 - BSG Alliance Corporation announced that it has secured $20 million in funding. Foundation Capital and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners led the funding with additional participants including Powershift Ventures, L.P.
BSG Alliance, led by Chairman and CEO Steve Papermaster, specializes in providing high-end strategy, on-demand software and on demand delivery that transform business organizations into “Next Generation Enterprises”.
“These funds allow us to strengthen our investment in BSG Alliance’s on-demand software offerings, to make targeted acquisitions in the strategy and on-demand delivery areas of our business and provide balance sheet strength to support our existing customer alliances,” says Steve Papermaster. “We are pleased that such quality firms as Foundation Capital and Hummer Winblad recognize BSG Alliance’s enormous growth potential and are joining us in making that potential a reality.”
In conjunction with the funding, Warren Weiss of Foundation Capital and Mitchell Kertzman of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners are joining the BSG Alliance Board of Directors.
Weiss has more than 25 years of experience in the software industry. At Foundation Capital, a venture capital firm led by proven entrepreneurs and focusing on early-stage ventures, he specializes in on-demand technology companies. He has served as president and CEO of four public and private software companies. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Asera, a real-time software solutions provider.
“The traditional model of software delivery is giving way to web-based, on-demand solutions,” Weiss points out. “BSG Alliance is at the forefront of tapping this burgeoning market. They have a unique go-to-market model and I’m looking forward to playing a role in their success.”
Mitchell Kertzman is a partner at Hummer Winblad, which was founded in 1989 as the first venture capital firm to focus entirely on the software industry. Kertzman has more than 30 years of experience as a CEO of public and private software companies. Most recently he was Chairman and CEO of Liberate Technologies, a provider of platform software for the delivery of digital services by cable television companies. He was also the founder and CEO of Powersoft, one of the top software IPO’s of the 1990’s and strongest partners of the original BSG.
“BSG Alliance has assembled an amazing team of business and technology savants and experienced entrepreneurs, from Steve Papermaster on down,” says Kertzman. “That is exactly what is needed for success in the emerging wave of on-demand technology solutions. I’m excited to be part of the BSG team - again”!
